Checkpoints, borders and customs posts

Automation of checkpoints, borders and customs posts

Asia Great designs and implements integrated systems for transport control automation at checkpoints, border crossings and customs posts. The solutions combine vehicle identification, license plate and container recognition, recording of passage through the control zone, and integration with the customer's information systems.

Where required, the system is supplemented with low-speed WIM and dimension control. Weight and dimension measurements then form part of the overall vehicle control process.

NUR JOLY checkpoint

Core functions of the system

Vehicle identification

Automatic recognition of the vehicle registration plate and linking of the vehicle to the control-zone passage event.

Container recognition

Automatic identification of containers and cargo units, with data linked to the vehicle and the control event.

Entry and exit control

Recording of the time, direction and lane of a vehicle's passage through the control point, together with the sequence of control operations.

Integration

Consolidation of results from the various subsystems and transfer of data to the information systems of government authorities and customers.

How the system works

The vehicle arrives at the control point

The system identifies the vehicle and its license plate

The container or cargo unit is identified

The prescribed control operations are performed

Where required, weight and dimension control are performed

A single control event is generated

Data is transferred to the customer's information system

The vehicle continues on its route

Vehicle recognition

ANPR is used for automatic vehicle identification by vehicle registration plate. The recognised license plate is linked to the time of passage, the traffic lane, the vehicle image and other control-event data.

Container recognition

At customs and logistics control sites, the system can automatically recognise the container identifier and link it to the vehicle and the control-zone passage event.

Additional weight and dimension control

Depending on the site requirements, the system can be supplemented with a low-speed WIM system and vehicle dimension measurement equipment.

Results for gross vehicle weight, axle loads and dimensions are passed into a single event together with vehicle identification data and other control-zone passage parameters.

WIM and dimension control are part of the system, not a separate checkpoint process.

Integration with government information systems

Asia Great systems integrate with the information systems of government authorities and customers. Vehicle and container identification data, results from control stages and readings from connected measurement subsystems can be combined in a single process.

This allows the system to be used as part of the overall border, customs and transport control infrastructure, rather than as a set of separate, unconnected devices.

Customs control

At customs sites, the system can combine vehicle and container identification, recording of control-zone passage, connected weight and dimension subsystems, and transfer of results to the customer's information systems.

The solutions can be used in projects for state revenue authorities and other government customers.
